Accessible Live Music performances for SEND pupils

We recognise that in the world of classical music, accessibility and inclusion often lag far behind advances made in theatre.

At Carrot Productions we want to address this, turn it on its head, and break down barriers so that everyone can access exceptional musical performances of the highest quality.

Our experienced team tailors each performance to meet the unique needs of every setting, ensuring a fully inclusive experience where children can interact with musicians and explore instruments up close.

Get in touch with us to discuss any questions, ideas, or proposals — we’d love to explore ways to bring live music to your school or community!

"We were so impressed by your understanding of a school like ours and what approach

"The whole cast were unphased… by students enjoying the performance in their own way. What a unique and exceptional group"
"it was truly amazing to see the children interacting and focusing in ways that we do not usually see"

Breaking barriers to inclusion

Having staged hundreds of school and relaxed events in venues across the UK, we realised there were many people with more complex needs who could not experience our live music performances.

To combat this barrier to inclusion, we have created programmes that allow us to stage performances in the heart of schools and small venues.

Unique and tailored musical experiences

Our handpicked performers are hugely experienced at working with pupils with additional needs and excel at adapting their communication to meet the audience's requirements. We are fortunate to include a professional music therapist in our team.

We understand that each setting is unique and work with individual schools to create a truly tailored and bespoke music performance experience that every child can access and enjoy.

Each performance lasts for just under one hour and includes an opportunity to meet all the musicians, explore the costumes and props, and see and hear the instruments up-close.

A performance day in school could include three performances of the same programme, with two given before the lunch break and one after, scheduled to fit the timings of your school day to allow the whole school to enjoy the experience.

Rachel Whibley, founder and Managing Director of Carrot Productions, talks about the most impactful, empowering and important musical performances the company has ever created. These musical performances for children with disabilities were specifically designed to be accessible and as inclusive as possible to maximise the impact for all.

Here Rachel talks about the challenges of putting on these performances, and the copious rewards that come with it. These performances have had a profound impact on the children who have seen them, and on the staff at the schools who have seen that impact firsthand. Rachel hopes that these performances will continue to make a difference in the lives of children with disabilities.
