Fantastic Fairy Tales - The Show

Fantastic Fairy Tales premiered at the Glossop Music Festival Summer Festival, with five schools' concerts, one relaxed SEN performance and a family concert.

The show comprises two of the most popular fairy tales – Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Cinderella – brought to life in this interactive extravaganza through live music, storytelling, acting, song, dance and film.

Led by professional actor and dancer, Sophie Trueman, the show features music specially composed by our Artistic Director, Daniel Whibley – of CBeebies Musical Storyland and The Gingerbread Man fame! – performed by our wonderful musicians.

The show includes fantastic illustrations, beautifully animated into film and a specially composed song with makaton signing.

After the concert, the children in the audience met the musicians, explored their costumes and instruments and even asked them to play some requests!

“They loved the audience participation, the interaction with Goldilocks and chatting with the musicians at the end.”

Audience Feedback

More than 160 people enjoyed the Family Concert, and over 500 school children engaged with the education programme. The feedback has been superb. As well as the schools' concerts themselves, children also had an in-school visit from one of the musicians for a preparatory session, where they discovered more about the stories and music, and learned a specially composed song with makaton signing so that they could join in during the concert. Schools were also given access to a raft of supporting resources, for use before and after the performance, to get the most out of the experience.

“The children very much enjoyed it when they saw the lady that had visited our school. The excitement levels definitely increased.”

“It was just really nice to take our children out for a musical experience. Seeing their faces light up with the sound of the different musical instruments was brilliant. Lots of our children are non-verbal and have limited interaction so it was really nice to see them communicate in different ways. It was also nice to be with other schools and other children with a variety of SEND.”
