Jenny studied the oboe with Elizabeth Fyfe in Scotland before attending the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, under the tuition of Hugh McKenna and Jonathan Small. During her postgraduate study at the RNCM, she was appointed Sub Principal Oboe of the BBC Philharmonic at the age of 22, a position she retained until becoming Principal Oboe in 2000. With the BBC Philharmonic, Jenny has appeared in numerous concerts, festivals and recordings throughout the UK and abroad.
As well as her commitments with the BBC Philharmonic, Jenny is regularly invited to play Guest Principal Oboe with many other orchestras including The Academy of St Martin in the Fields, London Philharmonic, Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra, CBSO and Oslo Philharmonic.
In 2012 Jenny was invited to join the World Orchestra for Peace, conducted by Valery Gergiev for the Solti Centenary Concerts in the Carnegie Hall and Chicago and in July 2014, she will join the orchestra again for more concerts.
Jenny regularly performs chamber music on the concert platform and has appeared live on In Tune on BBC Radio 3. She has given recitals and masterclasses around the country and has been an adjudicator of the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition several times.
